About Us

Act For Solutions (AFS) is a local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) committed to supporting poor communities out of poverty through research, capacity building, advocacy and public awareness. The organization empowers grassroots to work together in new and innovative ways in order to determine their own development priorities for sustainable development. Nationally, AFS contributes to Government efforts in achieving economic development and poverty reduction as contained in the country’s goals detailed in the Vision 2020 program. Internationally, the organization contributes to the achievement of social-economic development of poor communities with specific reference to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) especially goals;

• 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere
• 2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture
• 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impact

Mission

• Contributing to poverty reduction, mitigation of climate change impact and food security of poor communities for socio-economic development.

Objectives

1. Increase knowledge and skills of poor communities, mainly rural women and youth in creation of environmentally sensitive income generating projects for poverty reduction and food security
2. Raise awareness of poor communities on mitigation of climate change impact for community resilience.
3. Create a center of excellence which documents and provides information on best practices in community developement projects.
4. Advocate for inclusive planning and implementation of development programs.

Target population

• Poor communities especially rural women and youth
